Advantages of Advanced Analytics

Can AA (Advanced Analytics) become Mover and Shaker of the Business in the years to come? This is the question that I constantly seek to answer. As apt as the name sounds (well, it has two, not just one, A's), the instantaneous thought to think in affirmative is bound to happen. After all, we all love to foray into the delsuional world of exploring information from the vast and often wild, unpredictable forests of data. We also like to delve deep in the layers of data to discover 'never-before-seen' correlations within variables. Hold on. We often make the mistake of putting up too many parameters like KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and/or KPPs (Key Performance Predictors) to represent all the data and information in a range of dashboards. However, we often miss the point that it is only two or three KPIs that the business is looking for. For, they do not have the time to make sense out of the zillion KPIs that you dump to them at almost an intoxifying rate. Whilst keeping in mind that exlporation of data, gleaning insights from it, concocting correlations and other patterns withing the data, are all handy, it is also quite important to be able to reprent the data in a nice appealing and visual manner so that anyone can appreciate what you are trying to articulate. A case in point is the Ted software that was used by Ted Roslng to show the story of best statistics in a visual manner. http://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_shows_the_best_stats_you_ve_ever_seen.html So, if you are careful with what you want to answer and what you want to find, then AA is the way to go!
